Karen and I were searching for a name for today’s dragon, when we came up with the idea of giving a tip of the hat to Adam Baldwin and some of the characters he has played over the years. After all, doesn’t a dragon fit those personae perfectly? As for the dragon image, I did have a reason I went with the three headed dragon. Recently I had to buy a new cell phone and I like to personalize my phones as much as possible. I ended up buying a Sony Xperia X10 which allows the user to create their own backgrounds.
Like the iphone/itouch the screen of the Xperia slides from side to side to access different apps/functions. However, in the X10, the background moves only a fraction of the distance of the apps…basically giving the illusion of depth, but also never showing the full background area.
The challenge then becomes creating an image that is interesting to look at when you can only see 50% of that image at any given time. To give you an idea of what I mean, here’s what you would see of the image for each of the app panels I have on my Xperia:
Each panel has something of visual interest to look at, but I’ll still have to deal with the app icons covering a lot of the image. So it may not work in the end, but it’ll be a fun image to play with .
