This is the first drawing in a new sketchbook. I’ve returned from my last few trips to the art store without a moleskin sketchbook. I was determined not to leave empty handed this time. Unfortunately, I grabbed another one moleskin with the smoother, slightly yellow pages. Not that there’s anything wrong with these sketchbooks, I just seem to gravitate towards the paper with a bit of tooth. That being said, something different every once in a while can be a good thing.
For my newer readers – I alternate drawing my daily sketches in about a dozen sketchbooks. I do this for a couple reasons. The first reason is that everytime I switch sketchbooks, the previous drawing in that book is almost two weeks old, so it helps keep the next drawing fresh. The second reason for alternating sketchbooks, is that even though I’m drawing virtually everyday, each of my sketchbooks when finished, will span a period of almost five years. It’s a fun way to document my growth as an artist.
