There’s an island in Mumbai Harbour called Elephanta island, or Gharapuri, that has a temple hewn into the rocks of the hills. The Temple was built some time between the 5th and 8th Century, some believe it was mid 6th century. It’s a cool temple, so I had to go there with my dragons. The question was how to connect the two. Turns out the Portuguese named “Elephanta” island because of a large stone elephant sculpture on the island. It also turns out that according to Pliny the Elder, the dragon is the natural enemy of the elephant.
