Loomis – Figure Drawing

dedication

This week’s ‘show and tell’ is a book by Andrew Loomis called “Figure Drawing for all it’s worth”. Originally published in 1943, this copy is from the seventeenth reprint in 1955. It was a Christmas gift from my Auntie Ruth to my mom in 1956. My mom then passed it on to me for my birthday in 2007.

The book is beautifully illustrated, and a fantastic artist’s resource. Covering everything from muscle structure, to dealing with the figure in perspective.

Imagine my surprise when I was reading Alex Ross’ book “Mythology” (2003) and I came across a few pages dedicated to Andrew Loomis!
