So Painting Friday is here again. Today I thought I’d share a landscape that was painted for my parents by my dad’s mom in 1973. The history of the painting is actually quite interesting. My grandma passed away before she finished the bottom few inches of the painting. So a friend of her’s, a Mrs. Lye, who was taking the same painting class, finished painting the bottom few inches before presenting it to my parents.
To me, this painting represents ‘home’. It has hung in a prominent place in my mom and dad’s house for as long as I can remember.
As a side note, the lighter area in the center of the painting is from the sun coming through the window the day I took the picture. Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to take one without the sun hitting it.
