Before I left on the cruise, I had coloured most of the dragon and Sir Wexford, but that was it. I had no idea what kind of scene to put the two characters in. I tried a few things that just didn’t work at all, and finally decided that I would draw a forest scene to drop in behind them.
I still had a couple of problems to work through. First, the original forest scene I had sketched out was too small, so I drew another forest scene and photoshopped them together.
Now that I had a nice background, I had to colour it, and I just didn’t have any time this week. Ten minutes here and ten minutes there just wasn’t working. Or at least the background was looking as disjointed as the time I was spending on it.
I finally had some time on Sunday to spend on the image, and surprisingly I was able to bring it all together. In the end, I was quite happy with the way it turned out. Sometimes the ones you fight with are the ones that work the best.
